Services at Hope Springs Behavioral Consultants

At Hope Springs Behavioral Consultants, we provide specialized psychological services to children and adults in the Iowa City area. Our team of licensed psychologists brings decades of combined experience to every evaluation and therapy relationship, with a shared commitment to clarity, compassion, and lasting support.

Here is an overview of the services we offer.

Neuropsychological Assessments

Neuropsychological assessments are comprehensive evaluations that examine how the brain is functioning. Our evaluations assess a wide range of cognitive abilities, including:

  • Memory and learning
  • Attention and concentration
  • Processing speed
  • Executive functioning (planning, organization, problem-solving)
  • Language and communication
  • Visual-spatial skills
  • Emotional and behavioral functioning

Our assessments are helpful for individuals who are experiencing difficulties with attention, memory, learning, or daily functioning, and for those who need documentation to support academic or workplace accommodations.

We regularly provide ADHD and Autism evaluations for both children and adults. Whether you are seeking answers for yourself or your child, our evaluations are designed to provide a clear, thorough picture of cognitive strengths and areas of difficulty.

We evaluate individuals age seven and older. Current wait times for an evaluation are approximately two to three months.

Dyslexia Assessment

Dyslexia affects approximately 1 in 3 people, and yet it remains one of the most misunderstood and underidentified learning differences. Many individuals spend years struggling with reading, writing, and spelling without ever receiving a clear explanation for why it feels so hard.

At Hope Springs, we offer dyslexia assessment, diagnosis, and recommendations in the form of a neuropsychological evaluation. Our evaluations examine phonological processing, reading fluency, decoding skills, spelling, and related cognitive abilities to determine whether dyslexia is present and what support would be most helpful.

We share results directly with clients and families to help obtain the clarity needed to move forward, whether that means pursuing school accommodations, targeted reading instruction, or other forms of support.

Adult Therapy

We offer evidence-based individual therapy for adults navigating a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Depression and low mood
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Life transitions and adjustment
  • Stress and burnout
  • Relationship and interpersonal difficulties

Our psychologists use a confidential, relationship-focused approach, drawing on evidence-based techniques including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-based practices. We work to create a warm, non-judgmental space where meaningful change becomes possible.

Therapy at Hope Springs is available for adults only. We no longer offer child or adolescent therapy services. All first appointments are conducted via Zoom, with some follow-up appointments available in person depending on the provider.

  2. We will reach out via email: Our staff reviews all requests and contacts prospective clients by email when we have availability.
  3. First appointment via Zoom: All initial appointments are conducted virtually, regardless of service type.

Please note that we do not offer crisis services. If you are in crisis, please visit our Crisis Information page for local resources.
