Emotional Grounding with 5-4-3-2-1
The next video is made by Dr. Anderson. It shows her using an example of a grounding skill. Grounding skills help people manage stressful situations and feelings of overwhelm or panic. This skill is called 5-4-3-2-1.
Leaves on a Stream
In the following video, Dr. Anderson is using an exercise called, “Leaves on a Stream.” This exercise is a form of mindfulness, and is often used by ACT clinicians to help us notice that our thoughts are simply thoughts, and that we don’t always have to respond to them.
